That's why I make them

The day before Carolina was scheduled to play the Tampa Bay Lightning, Brett Sutter got called up from the Hurricanes' American Hockey League affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers. Because I don't have any cards for him, it proved to be another case of where my cheap skate cards come in handy.

Sure, I could've ask him to sign a Reed Deer Rebels puck, seeing the family ties to the Western Hockey League junior club. Maybe next trip, provided he's on the roster.

By the way, Brent, an alternate captain for the Hurricanes, is his cousin, not his brother. And, yes, they were walking together to the morning skate.

  1. That's cool. His cousin Lukas plays up here too. papa sutter goes to most of the games. He hangs out with the other dads from the Blades. Did the US get the Brett Sutter story about his arrest in Nov? We were in Calgary when it hit the papers and he was traded by his dad within two weeks.

  2. I remember hearing something about that, but it didn't get that big of play down here.

  3. He was roasted in Calgary, not surprised when he was gone so quick. Iggy stuck up for him in the media but didn't help. The story goes the Flames were at a pub and some skipped curfew and stayed til close. Walking out someone took a few verbal jabs at Sutter and he took a swing. He was playing a lot too, fourth line, not to bad so he was the sacrificial lamb I guess.
